A Wish

Everyday I hear The soft tap- tap Of your walking stick A bespectacled grin Out of sync with the grey's
You stretch stiffly in the park Waiting patiently For boisterous children to pass Blessing them With your loving eyes
Gathering herbs for your tea Flowers for the puja Admiring butterflies Lost in deep contemplation All with your signature grin
I only wish When in life, I reach your stage To share my whites There will be An equally infectious smile!

Haiku: The childless woman -Part II

Image
Carpe Diem Special #148, Ransetsu's "the childless woman"
Today's newspaper carried an article about a couple who conceived when they were nearing their sunset years. I could not stop myself from writing this Haiku based on the prompt at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai.

Haiku: One patch of a rice field

Image
Not everything goes right in the world. When nonseasonal rains arrive out of nowhere, they bring destruction in their wake. This Haiku is nowhere close to the colossal loss farmers experience.

Bloggers who make me win #YouMakeMeWIN

Most writers I know would attest to the fact that writing is a very lonely exercise. Putting yourself out there, in the unforgiving ether of space, for the world to get a glimpse of your thoughts and unique perspective, takes immense courage and conviction in one’s own abilities.
Getting instant and genuine helpful feedback on your work, a nudge in the right direction when you are struggling with an idea or concept, or just a plain push to write more when you are being simply lazy is a boon for anyone who chooses to wield the pen.
Writing everyday is no mean task; putting in hours of careful consideration to pick topics for your posts. Making sure they are relevant to your audience, beautifully presented, holding reader attention and leave the reader with some food for thought.
Wouldn’t you consider yourself fortunate if you came across a fellow blogger who made your journey so much more enriching just by their presence? You might never have met the person, but a deep connection exists…

Haiku: Wooden Sandals

Image
The Lord's empty throne
Graced by wooden padukas  A kingdom exiled

This Haiku takes inspiration from the Ramayana, specifically Lord Rama's exile. His loyal brother Bharat ruled the Kingdom of Ayodhya as Rama's regent, refusing to grace the throne during the Lord's (Rama's) fourteen year exile in the jungle.  He placed Lord Rama's wooden sandals (Padukas) on the royal seat, awaiting his return from the forest.

The End

Mag 270 Her ashen face Turns to green Like her translucent wings Head bowed She pleads For redemption Another chance Freedom from her cursed life For she is trapped Neither human, nor fly Condemned To nothingness Exposed, numbed Mired in infamy Her heart sinks A river of silent tears Just then The curtain falls Thanks to Tess @ Magpie Tales for this amazing writing prompt.
